DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY & FINE ART
My work as a UK documentary photographer & fine artist explores existential themes, the human experience of time and the concept of immortality as embodied in a photograph, which can itself shape memories. I’m also interested in our sensory interaction with the natural world and our psychological connection to it.
Photography has always been central to my work, the interest catalysed by my Grandfather who owned a camera shop in Preston in the 1980s. Over 20 years I’ve studied photography, initially in the darkrooms of Central St Martins and later completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Documentary Photography & Photojournalism at LCC. My practice is shaped by an international career in sustainable development (MSc Development Studies, SOAS) which has challenged me to reflect on the environment and our part within it.
